THE RANDALL FAMILY
RANDALL CARPET CARE
OCTOBER 23, 2015
Jen's Editing Note: One of the best things about the West Valley Families - Estrella Facebook group page is the opportunity for residents to connect with each other. Quite frequently, people are in need of services and prefer to work with other residents in the neighborhood.
When it comes to carpets... you hear the name "John Randall" every time. The Randalls are members of the Estrella Business Group and members of our page! And we love their story! We thank the Randall's for taking time to answer this week's Q&A! |
Q. How long have you been in Estrella? Where are you from and how did you decide to move to Estrella?
A. We have been in Estrella Mountain Ranch for over 11 years. We are both from the Chicago area. We moved here because Lisa had just finished grad school for teaching, but there were little to no job opportunities in the Chicago area schools. Her longtime best friend had just found and bought a home in Estrella Mountain Ranch, [EMR], ]and sent us the link to the community. We fell in love with EMR immediately and moved here just a few months later. |

Q. Tell me about your interests… what does your family like to do in your free time?
A. With our jobs, we don't really have a lot of free time! Our family loves hockey and football and is still very attached to our Chicago sports teams, especially the Blackhawks and Bears, so we very much enjoy keeping up with them and watching all of their games. We all also love watching movies (can't wait for "Star Wars: Episode 7"!) and playing games as a family. Lisa and I love to play poker and the boys love to swim. We all love to go to San Diego in the summer when we can!

Q. Please tell us about your involvement in the community. How long have you been members of the Estrella Business Group? Are you involved in any other organizations?
A. Randall Carpet Care has been a part of the Estrella Business Group for six years. I am able to go to the monthly meetings and have made a lot of great friends and connections with the group. We feel fortunate to have this group here in Estrella to form and maintain community connections. We are also part of the Better Business Bureau. Q. Please tell me about your business.
A. I was raised in a carpet cleaning family. My father started his business when I was just one year old. Our entire family of 7 worked in the business to varying degrees. Following high school, I spent nearly a decade working full time in the business. |

Q. You frequently get good feedback on our Estrella Mountain Residents Facebook page. What is your business philosophy?
A. I chose to name my company Randall Carpet Care. I did this knowing that I would have my name on the truck serving throughout my community. I take pride in that. At each job I do my best to provide the best service--whether that means cleaning, replacing, or sometimes just giving advice. Q. What makes Estrella special to you? Amenities, neighbors, events?
A. SO much makes it special. It started with the lakes and the beautiful neighborhoods--that was enough for us to pack up and move out here right away. We then met so many great neighbors and friends. We love going to Oasis or the Golf Club and always seeing someone we know. It is wonderful the way people here look out for each other--it's a great feeling of "community". |
Q. What advice do you have for the new residents moving into the area? (Regarding meeting people or getting involved.)
A. I think with the internet and technology, there are even quicker ways now to get involved than when we first moved here! Looking at this EMR Residents page, attending local events, getting out to walk, run, or ride (when the weather cools off!), etc. I would also HIGHLY recommend staying hydrated (it's always a shock!) and educating oneself on local dangers--excessive heat, rattlesnakes, scorpions, poisonous frogs, etc. This is a beautiful place to live, but it is the desert.

Q. What is one thing you’d like to see in Estrella over the next 10 years?
A. So many great things have already come along in the PAST 10 years. While we love keeping it cozy and not too "commercial", it really would be great to have a nice restaurant by one of the lakes, or a relaxing pub with shuttle service, And it would be wonderful to see those small storefronts by Safeway fill up with more fun, friendly shops or specialty stores. Q. Anything else you'd like to add?
A. Thank you for supporting local businesses! You are more than welcome! Thank YOU! ~Estrella Mountain Residents
