Q. Tell me a little bit about you. How long have you lived in Estrella and where did you move here from?
A. I have lived in Estrella since I was one year old, and I remember my dad telling me about when our neighborhood was built, that the neighborhood was nothing but a lot of dirt and rocks. My twin sister and I was born in Illinois, and our mom was born and raised in the Philippines. She moved to America after marrying my dad, and we moved to Arizona when we were a couple of months old. I went to school at Westar Elementary, and even went to the preschool near the fire station. Q. What is your grade level?
A. I am a sophomore at Estrella Foothills. |
Q. Can you please tell me a little bit about your interests?
A. I love everything that involves the arts. Books, plays, drawings, sketches, music, and more. I’ve wept over sad books, and laughed until I cried over a hilarious comic. I wish I could be Mozart, Leonardo, Shakespeare, and Picasso all crammed into one. Q. What clubs and activities do you participate in?
A. I am in Interact Club, and club that is devoted to giving back to the community, doing good for others, and interacting with the good people of Estrella. At the Goodyear Library I am a teen shelver (I shelve books), make displays and decorations for the library’s events with the Decoration Committee, and am part of the Teen Leadership Club at the Library. I also hope to be a part of NHS. |
Q. What leadership roles do you have in your various activities?
A. I am a Representative of Interact Club, someone in club that people can go to for advice or question about the club, since I have been there for a full year. At the Goodyear Library I hold a number of positions, I am a senior volunteer, having volunteered there since I was in 7th grade, and help train new volunteers around the Library, shelving and sorting books. In the Teen Leadership Club I am Captain, leading and planning events, and directing the meetings. Also, I am the leader of the Decoration Committee, and help plan the decoration we are making next. |
Q. What is one thing that you’d like to see at EFHS in the next ten years?
A. I would like to see EFHS get a McDonalds and a Panda Express on campus. I took Precision Manufacturing I and II, so I would also like to see the Precision Manufacturing lab get expanded so that it would have more CNC lathes and mills, and a wood working shop so woodworking could be an elective. I also want to see more girls doing these electives, as they are important skills, and can lead to amazing opportunities and careers.

Q. What do you like to do in your spare time?
A. I like to be outside and play sports with my friends, ride my bike everywhere, and one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen was the sunset from the top of a mountain after hiking forever. I’d never turn down a good book, and have a fine appreciation for a finely made cup of hot cocoa on a cold windy day. I have a notebook filled with tons of both sketches and poems, and have a dream about writing and illustrating my own book. Music inspires me greatly, and I am currently learning how to play the piano, and like to mess around with chords, writing my own songs while altering others. |
