I recently got to know Bonnie Jansson better through a local group we are both part of called The Well Armed Woman. While I've seen her quite a bit around the community, I'm so happy to get to know her better as her positive spirit is infectious and inspirational. My advice to anyone moving to Estrella is get involved in something, anything in order to meet people. The best way I have always met people is by going to the gym! Where are you from and how did you decide to move to Estrella?
I am from the east coast (NY, NJ, CT and lastly MA) Left MA October 2, 1988 traveled in a pick-up truck w/ a slide in camper across country and arrived in Phoenix January 26, 1989 .
My husband and I decided to move to Estrella after living in North Phoenix for 10 years! Hardly knew the West Valley existed until a real estate agent brought us here. Just as beautiful as Scottsdale and way less expensive, we were sold! We loved the idea that it was away from civilization.

Oh boy! where to start? Worked at picking strawberries/ making cider after school in CT and never saw an end to being in the work force until retiring in June 2013; after teaching fitness classes and personal training part time for 19 years. This was in addition to my full time job.

What do you enjoy doing in Estrella?
When first moving to Estrella in 1999 I along with a friend started a hiking group that met once a month on a Sunday. We hiked all over Estrella and didn't need trails, since we just followed the animals routes! We even named one of the hills Inauguration Hill since it was that time of the year! Now I enjoy working out at the Starpointe, occasionally swimming, playing trivia and playing bunco, meeting friends for lunch.

What is your passion for keeping fit? And what is your favorite workout?
My passion for keeping fit is knowing that I will feel guilty if I don't workout. That really does the trick! My favorite workout is Water Aerobics, but I believe and know that one must vary one's workouts, so I also lift weights, and take yoga & Pilates classes.

You are a member of the Southwest Valley Shooting Group of The Well Armed Woman. How did you decide to take this next step in self defense?
My newest passion is belonging to a group called TWAW. The Well Armed Woman, Southwest Valley Chapter. I saw an advertisement in the Estrella E-Blast about an up coming meeting at the Starpointe and decided to educate myself. I was sold and joined almost immediately. I still don't own a gun, but that will come.

What would you like to see in Estrella over the next 5 years?
Actually I'd like to see Estrella stay just as it is.......I wasn't for the shopping center at the beginning, but now it really is kind of nice to have a few conveniences.
