Q. Tell me a little bit about you. How long have you worked in Estrella and where did you move here from?
A. I started working here in October of 2012 after moving to Arizona from Michigan Q. What is your profession?
A. I am an English teacher. This is my 17th year of teaching high school English. Q. Can you please tell me a little bit about your interests?
A. I love to read, travel, hike, and go to the theater (plays/musicals) when I can. I am addicted to my Fit Bit so I have to get my 10,000 steps in every day. |
Q. What clubs and activities do you participate in on campus?
A. I am the Interact Club sponsor.

Q. What are some of your favorite events that the Interact Club participates in?
A. Andre House and Ronald McDonald are two that I really enjoy. And we read/played with the kindergarten class at Rancho Santa Fe in December and that was a lot of fun.

Q. What is one thing that you’d like to see at EFHS in the next ten years?
A. More students involved with Interact. Q. What do you like to do in your spare time?
A. Usually I am reading or traveling. On the weekends my husband and I like to go to different places in Arizona and check them out. We have done a lot of hiking and going to different festivals. When we see something interesting is happening around the state, we try to go. |

Q. Anything else you’d like to add?
A. Our Interact Club is a service organization that is sponsored by the Buckeye Rotary Club. The students who make up the club are very volunteer oriented and work very hard throughout the school year to help as many people/organizations that they can. There are currently 53 members of the club with more joining every week. Some of the things that the club members do are: Andre House once a month (work the soup kitchen), Ronald McDonald House once a quarter.The kids plan a menu, buy the food and then go and cook it for the families that stay at RMH. Other things the club does is:Make a Difference Day, Adopt A Road, Adopt A Family at Christmas, Christmas Angel shopping, work at PIR, Feed My Starving Children and whatever else we are called on todo.Interact Club is one of the greatest things about teaching at EFHS.I really like working with the kids and being so involved in the volunteer opportunities that I get to do by working with them on their projects. |

Madeline Lewis is a junior at Estrella Foothills High School. She is very involved with volunteering in the community both inside of school and out, participating in various clubs and activities. In her free time she likes to read, watch old movies, and work on adding to her collection of novelty socks.
