LUCERO TO BEGIN BUILDING
JULY 5, 2017
In 2015, West Valley Families - Estrella began to follow City discussions regarding much needed fire stations in the Estrella community.
Tragically, on Easter morning in 2016, a local family's home burned to the ground raising more questions about fire response times up on our hill.
In June 2016, I personally went to Goodyear City Council and asked for a delay in building an additional community, Lucero, until more fire services were available in Estrella to appropriately respond to calls coming from homeowners throughout our stretched link of neighborhoods.
Goodyear City Council approved the Lucero community and continues to hand out building permits throughout the City.
I've blogged extensively about fire issues in this All-America City. We've taken a closer look at CantaMia fire response times to our south, as well. We also covered the controversial fire station study, funded by tax payers, which told us what we already knew... Estrella needed an additional station.
In February of this year, Goodyear City Council issued a Notice of Intent to commence design on the Estrella Fire Station No. 801.
Estrella's 2nd Fire Station is a collaborative effort between Goodyear, Newland Communities, and AV Homes in CantaMia. The price tag is roughly $5,870,000. It's slated to open in July 2019.
Today, this notice was sent to Estrella residents. Scroll down to see the info we provided about Lucero more than a year ago.
