Jen's Editing Note: I first met the McGarry's when my daughter played on Kevin's Estrella Youth Sports' basketball team many years ago... Very friendly couple and devoted parents to three children.

Q. Please tell me about you and your family. How long have you been in Estrella and where did you move from?
A. We've been in Estrella for six years. We moved from Vancouver BC Canada seeking adventure and wanting to give our kids the kinds of opportunities that Arizona offers.

Q. I know you contribute in the community. Please tell me how and what motivates you to give back.
A. We are so incredibly grateful for our lives, we truly feel like the luckiest people ever. Kevin rides with BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse). He spends almost every Sunday volunteering for them as well as times during the week. He has a serious soft spot for kids and animals. My love is theater, so I support community theater whenever I can!

Q. Can you please tell me about your business? What is your commitment to your customers?
A. We've always been active in real estate and marketing, so becoming a Realtor was a natural progression. Being a full time Realtor means that Kevin is always available when his clients need him and that his first priority is always to real estate. Buying and selling real estate in Estrella is honestly one of the best jobs in the world - who wouldn't want to live here?!

Q. Can you give us three quick tips for selling a home?
A. First, and most importantly, hire the right Realtor. Find someone who understands your community and knows what it has to offer, someone who is honest about the entire process and able to help you get your home market ready. Before you hire any Realtor ask them what they will do to market your home; find someone who is willing to do more than list on the MLS and put a sign in the front yard.
Once you've chosen the right person for the job, make sure your home shows as well as it can every time. De-clutter as much as possible so that prospective buyers can imagine themselves and their furniture in your home. Clean everything - the carpets, the walls, the ceiling fans, hire a professional if at all possible.
Don't forget about curb appeal! I know, its said so often its become cliché, but when someone drives up to your home they are already making a decision. Here in Estrella we are fortunate, it is truly gorgeous up here. So many people drive in and are blown away by the community. Makes sure your home's exterior confirms what prospective buyers already sense driving up here - Estrella is where they want to be!

Q. How is the home buying market in Estrella?
A. The home buying market in Estrella right now is strong. Things are moving quickly. Mortgage rates are still low and values are coming back. And the best news is that it is still an absolute steal in my opinion; being able to live in the nicest subdivision is still affordable for average families. Q. What is one thing you'd like to see in Estrella over the next ten years?
A. We already have so much, but there are things that would definitely go over so well with the local community. Go ahead, post in one of the Facebook groups up here that you wish there was a nice, sit down restaurant and watch the internet break! We love to spend time at the golf course restaurant - the food is amazing and those views...stunning. |

Q. Are you looking forward to the school season starting up again?
A. Yes and no. Our kids love their schools and they are really excited to see all their friends, but spending time with them over the summer is one of the things we are are truly so grateful for.

Q. Do you have any tips for young families living in Estrella as far as finding fun things to do together?
A. There are so many fantastic things to do both in Estrella and in the general Phoenix area! Estrella Mountain Residents is great at posting things that are going on all over, and if ever you wanted someone's opinion about anything you can always ask there. We post things to our business Facebook page as well and we have a newsletter that we send by email that highlights some of the cool things going on locally. I love how you can always find something to do no matter your tastes or your budget.
